Toddler Development

Supporting the Developing Autonomy of 1–2 Year Olds

Children aged 12 to 24 months experience dynamic physical and linguistic growth. Our toddler community balances structured freedom with attentive caregiver guidance.

1

Real Practical Life Competence

Toddlers learn to wash hands, wipe tables, peel bananas, and carry small trays. Real tasks with sized-to-scale tools cultivate coordination, concentration, and deep pride.

2

Gentle Toilet Learning Partnership

Toileting is approached respectfully as a natural developmental milestone. We partner with parents using child-accessible bathroom facilities without pressure or punishment.

3

Language & Vocabulary Explosion

Educators model precise vocabulary, read stories, and introduce naming cards to expand expressive language, helping toddlers articulate needs and reduce frustration.

Frequently Asked Questions About Toddlers

Is potty training required for the toddler program? +
No, potty training is not a prerequisite for admission. In the 12–24 month community, we introduce toilet learning naturally, working in close collaboration with parents when the child shows signs of readiness.
How do toddlers transition to Preschool at age 2 or 3? +
When toddlers turn 2, they naturally graduate into our Early Primary classroom. Because both environments share Montessori principles of order and independence, children transition with familiarity and confidence.
